A simple rainy day spent indoors (exercise)
It’s Saturday and it’s raining.
She checks the weather first thing in
the morning, as soon as she opens her eyes and stretches her arms like a cat,
she hears the rain slowly falling on her window and she gets excited and cozy
because today she’ll stay inside.
She gets out of bed and starts her
morning routine. Then she puts on her black leggings and that comfortable
sweater she owns. She goes straight to the kitchen to prepare some tea; turns
the stove on and places the water pot on it; takes her favorite tea cup out of
the cabinet and gets her “stress free mix” ready.
Once the tea is ready, she plays her
piano playlist and organizes her workspace. She collects the papers from
yesterday’s night working time and arranges the pens by colors and sizes. She
then takes her laptop and places it in the middle of the desk.
That’s her favorite window. The light
comes in, naturally, touching her skin and relaxing her. She takes her cup and
brings it closer to her face, while preparing to start working. The smell makes
her sigh. Her large sweater unfolds on her arm revealing the pale skin and a
wooden bracelet. She places the cup on the desk and starts typing.
She’s working on a project, some study
she tried to do with one of her professors. She wrote and wrote until the tea
got cold. It’s still raining so she decided to take a break and meditate while
watching the rain fall.
Some drops have started racing down the
window and she watches them in awe. She started making another cup of tea and
the steam filled the room with a pleasant aroma. It’s now noon; she decided
she’d been working enough and it’s time to cuddle with a book for some time.
Her small apartment seemed really cozy
that day. She turned the Christmas lights on and lighted a scented candle. She
sat herself on the couch and covered herself with a blanket. She grabbed the
book she had left on the bed a night before and continued to read from page 62.
When she turns the pages, they make a quiet sound that breaks all the silence
in the room. From time to time she looks out the window – it’s pouring. She
would like to smell the rain, but if she opens the window, the rain will get
inside her apartment. She thought waiting for the rain to pass and then opening
the window might be a good option, but until that happened, she fell asleep.
The candle blew itself off and the
blanket slowly fell off of her. She woke up around 2 AM because she felt cold
and realized the rain hasn’t stopped, so she decided to go to bed. She cuddled
up in her room, holding on to her favorite teddy bear, hoping that tomorrow
she’ll still be able to enjoy the smell of the rain.
